Welcome to the 2nd annual Hennessy Cognac Cup at Studio Lounge! Below is some important information to know about the competition. Timeline, rules, etc.
General
· Doors open at 330pm
· Please arrive no later than 345pm, the competition will begin at 415pm
· When you arrive, let the person at the door know you are a competitor, and they will direct you where to go
· As a competitor, you will be able to bring 2 guests with no cover (Tickets are $25)
Competition
· There will be up to 12 total competitors
· FIRST 12 BARTENDERS WHO REGISTER GET INTO COMPETITION
· First Round: EVERYONE COMPETES ONE AT A TIME
- There will be a mobile bar that you will compete at. It will have an ice bin and speed rail.
- You will be making TWO cocktails:
- One is a Henny-Rita. You can put your own twist on this if you’d like, however you envision a Hennessy Margarita. *Base ingredients for this will be provided (Hennessy VS/VSOP, orange liqueur, simple syrup, lime juice, orange). Please bring any additional ingredients you may need to adjust the cocktail.
- Second one is your own Hennessy cocktail. *The only item provided for this cocktail is the Hennessy VS/VSOP. Please bring ALL extra ingredients.
- The two competitors with the highest score between their cocktails will move onto the finals.
- Second round/finals: BOTH BARTENDERS WILL COMPETE AT THE SAME TIME
- Both competitors will be at the actual bar, utilizing two separate stations
- You will make ONE cocktail:
- This will be a “Chopped” style round. We will showcase a handful of ingredients, and you will have to make a cocktail from them. You will have a set time to think and test a cocktail then present it to the judges.
Judging
- Each round will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Taste
- Style
- Technique
- *While your score won’t be affected by your speed, there will be a max time limit for each competitor (in order to keep the competition moving)
- Any tiebreakers will be determined by crowd noise
What you need to bring:
- ALL ingredients for your own custom Hennessy drink (besides Hennessy)
- Any ingredients you need to enhance/change the Henny-Rita
